Services

The Group offers two categories of membership, Full Membership and Specialist Membership, each designed to suit the purpose of construction companies.

Specialist membership is ideally designed for small works and sub-contract companies that require a link to health and safety advice only, with additional charged services available when required. This enables flexibility to smaller companies that are sometimes left to fend for themselves.

Full membership offers a total pro-active service to its members including:
· Regular independent site inspections.
· Access to advice via the phone, fax and e-mail.

· Assistance with annual policy reviews.
· Advice on health and safety plans.
· Advice and assistance with risk assessments and method statements.
· Provision of performance data from site inspections.
· Regular bulletins and newsletters. Updates on legislation and good practice.
· Premises inspections - monitoring safety at a member's head office.
· Regular performance/progress review meetings.
· Assistance and advice with major accident investigations.

Additional services can also be offered to full members at a reduced cost.   These services include:
· Assistance with arranging and delivering training.
· Audit of health and safety management systems.

The above list is not exhaustive, as additional services may be provided to accommodate members' individual needs.

Site Inspections

Site inspections are carried out by qualified Safety Advisors at all times, and are based on a risk rating system. The risk rating is based on the opinion of the Safety Advisor at the time of the previous visit, and come in three categories:

High Risk

Where an Advisor feels that the site requires additional monitoring, or there is a high risk item of work forecasted on the contract programme, the next site visit will be programmed to be carried out within 2 weeks. This ensures that the high risk areas of the work are suitably monitored throughout the contract.

Medium Risk

Where no high risk elements are present, or if they are suitably controlled by the contractor, a site visit will be programmed to be carried out within four weeks. Once the site is established, this tends to be the standard visit time.

Low Risk

This is normally reserved for the finishing works of a contract where snagging or internal decorating may be carried out. These visits are programmed to be carried out within 6 weeks. Low risk visits are fairly rare and are only recommended when required.

By basing our visits on risk, we can ensure that maximum coverage is given where the need is greater, ensuring maximum use of the Group’s resources.

As highlighted previously, all Advisors are issued with laptop computers and printers to assist them in their work. This ensures that all site reports are legible and clear, and are forwarded by e-mail to the members at the end of each day, enabling recommendations to be actioned as soon as possible.
