Abrasive Wheels - Powered Tools

Injuries and fatalities are still common because workers do not realise the hazards created when using a powered tool. This course addresses the lack of awareness and gives some practical advice on what to do to achieve a safe workplace.  Also identifies grinding wheel and demonstrates the correct method of fitting.

Asbestos Awareness

A comprehensive training course run by an experienced professional, who will deliver practical and relevant solutions to comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, including the latest amendments to the Code of Practice HSG 264.  This course meets the requirements of CAR 2012, Regulation 10 (Training in Awareness).

Banksman

Site traffic needs to be controlled to prevent injury.  This course highlights the dangers and instructs the delegate to take authority, give clear signage and make clear direction a priority for mobile site traffic.  Tailored to the site layout.

CDM Revision & Application

The CDM 2015 Regulations were placed on the statute to replace a set of regulations that were not working as they should.  The introduction of the planning element and the changes in project responsibilities are explained.  The Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan also now has additional changes required to meet the standard laid out in the ACoP.  The course explains in detail the new requirements.

Face Fit Training
 
The wearing of all PPE requires a proper fit to the person.  Face fit testing ensures that the face mask fits the wearer even while wearing other essential PPE (glasses etc.)  The qualative test is carried out simulating work activities through a test regime.
 
Test duration:             20 mins approx.
 
Cost per delegate:      £20.00 (re-test £5.00)
 
Note:  Delegates must be clean shaven for this test and own mask provided.
 
Health & Safety Awareness

This is a revision course for all levels involved in construction.
Beneficial to Site Managers and operational staff in the building maintenance, management and renovation environment engaged in occupied and unoccupied premises, who have a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of their staff, sub-contractors, clients and the public.  Covered are the relevant sections and key information governing responsibilities and actions that should be considered in order to satisfy the requirements of health and safety law and provide good practice:

· Brief Introduction to the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
· The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015
· Your responsibilities on site
· Identification and controlling of risks
· Safe use of PPE and equipment
· Use of lifting equipment
· Accident investigation and recording
 
Objectives at the end of the course which the delegate will be able to:
· Understand their responsibilities under health and safety law
· State a method of determining the correct choice of equipment
· Identify types of hazards and control risks on a construction site

Manual Handling

Manual handling is still the largest, single cause of injuries in the workplace.  This course provides a main building block for the employer who is seeking to ensure that his workers understand the importance of a good safety culture and learn the correct techniques to prevent lost time and ill health in the future.

Mobile Tower Erection & Inspection

This course will provide the necessary skills and knowledge needed to ensure that delegates are able to work safely with or from lightweight access towers.  Any person involved in construction and working from lightweight access towers should attend.  The aims are to enable operatives, maintenance and inspection staff to safely errect, use, move, dismantle and inspect lightweight access towers.  The course will cover:

· The Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
· The CDM 2015 Regulations
. Work at Height Regulations 2005
· Safe working at heights
· Recognition of components and their applications
· Provision of bracing, ties, toe boards and handrails
· Selection, erection and use of ladders
· Identification of suitable ground conditions
· Sequence of erection and dismantling
· Use of outriggers, sole plates and ties
· Techniques for repositioning erected towers

Risk Assessment and Method Statement Training

Is your assessment suitable and sufficient?  Planning the task requires competence.  This half day course is designed to work through the 5 steps of risk assessments.  Method statements are a good site planning tool when used correctly.  The course describes your resources, and the requirements of the rescue plan and emergency actions required in a method statement.  We will discuss the importance of well managed, site organisation.  Method statements and risk assessments - their legal standing.

The Role & Duties of a Fire Warden

This course is designed to increase the awareness of the persons nominated to carry out the duties of Fire Warden.  The course will describe the fire triangle, principles and sources of ignition and means of detection.  Fire procedures, actions and emergency evacuation, the correct types of fire extinguishers, inspection and housekeeping will be highlighted.  The course will discuss the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, fire risk assessment and means of escape and emergency lighting.

Safe Working at Height - The Regulations

Toolbox Presentation Skills

Construction site management did not start their career planning to stand and instruct larger groups of workers in aspects of site life. This course helps them identify techniques for delivering a confident toolbox talk.  It also directs the delegate to additional information required for their chosen topic.

Use & Inspection of Harnesses

The Work at Height Regulations clearly says that personal protective equipment is the last resort when it comes to risk assessment.  If you or your employees' lives depend on a harness as the last resort, you should attend this course to learn more about the correct use, inspection, maintenance and storage of this vital equipment.

Work at Height (My Responsibilities)

A course designed for the Site Manager, Contracts Manager and Estimator.  This short course will cover the details of the Work at Height Regulations, as required in every workplace and on every building site, as well as:

· Working on ladders
· MEWPS
· Stairwells
· Roof work
· Mobile towers
· Stepladders
 
What it will mean to be competent to prepare a work at height risk assessment.
Inspection      -      Rescue Plan      -      Competence
We will be discussing the issues and new developments of access now being developed.

EFAW - £55.00 per delegate
This is a 1 day course which meets the requirements of a small construction site and ensures competence in life saving skills.  The course includes basic knowledge, resuscitation, anaphylaxis, defibrillator use and bleeding control.

CSCS / IOSH Working Safely Course - £75.00 per delegate

If you work in a labouring occupation you can apply for the labourer card (Green card).  You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved one of the following:

. QCF/SCQF Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

. or One Day Site Safety Plus Health and Safety Awareness course

. or IOSH Working Safely course

You must also pass the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test within two years prior to applying for a new card. 

EBSG provide the IOSH Working Safely course.

The course describes your responsibilities, identifies hazards and risk.   Provides basic knowledge to control hazards, discusses health and safety performance and how improvement is made.  Also includes a module on environmental awareness.

The course is vital for the new employee and is a requirement under the CSCS scheme.
